Guidelines for Authors

Foreword
The Geopolitical Review (Polish: Przegląd Geopolityczny, PG) publishes articles, reports, reviews, polemics, as well as analytical and educational materials in the fields of geopolitics, political, military and historical geography, international relations, geoeconomics and economic geography, political science, geostrategy, and the history and philosophy of the social sciences.
The Polish Geopolitical Society (Polish: Polskie Towarzystwo Geopolityczne, PTG), is a patron of the journal, and as a scientific association, does not identify with any political group or with any specific geopolitical idea. All materials published in PG, unless stated otherwise, should not be understood as the views of the editorial board and do not represent the official position of the Society.
All articles are reviewed by experts according to the double-blind peer review principle, using a standard evaluation form. The main evaluation criteria are academic quality, logical structure, and language clarity.
The Geopolitical Review is published four times a year, before 31 March, 30 June, 30 September and 31 December. Articles and other materials should be submitted by: 15 December, 15 March, 15 June, and 15 September.
Articles are freely available to both subscribers and the wider public with permitted reuse (see: Archive).
Each author is entitled to receive one free copy of the journal in its original printed version. At the author?s request, the copy will be sent by post after the issue is published and the delivery address is provided.
The publication is free of charge. All papers proposals are submitted as an e-mail attachment sent to: redakcja@przeglad.org.
Guidelines for Authors:
The length of an article should not exceed one publishing sheet (approximately 40,000 characters including spaces, i.e. about 22 typed B5 format pages). The editorial board of Geopolitical Review reserves the right to shorten and edit submitted texts, including changes to the title and subtitles, as well as corrections to footnotes and the bibliography.
The Editorial Board accepts articles in Polish and in English or French. Each article must include an abstract (up to 200 words) and a set of keywords. The abstract should present the main thesis or purpose of the paper and its most important conclusions.
Submitted texts should be prepared using commonly available word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Word or OpenOffice) saved in .DOC format. Manuscripts need to be sent to the editorial office’s e-mail address (redakcja@przeglad.org). Materials submitted for publication should meet the following criteria:
- Main text and bibliography: Cambria, 12 pt. Footnotes: entire text: single spacing.
- The first page should include the author’s full name and affiliation, as well as the full title, centered, in bold and small caps. All subtitles in the text should be bold, left-aligned, and 12 pt. in size.
- Paragraphs and all types of footnotes should have a standard indentation of 1.0 cm.
- Quotation marks should start at the bottom of the text and end at the top.
- Illustrations included in the text should be prepared only in black and white or grayscale (the magazine is printed using monochrome technology). Additionally, color versions of maps and figures can be sent for publication on the magazine’s website.
- Footnotes should be placed at the bottom of the page and numbered. Authors should limit the number of footnotes to the minimum necessary, using bibliographic references instead, given in parentheses along with the surname of the author and year of publication (optionally also page numbers). The bibliography must include all works cited in the text, illustrations, and tables. It should be arranged alphabetically, as in the examples below:
- Journal article: Kołodziej, M., 2016. Islam we współczesnych Chinach, Przegląd Geopolityczny, 16, pp. 43-58.
- Chapter in an edited volume: Gul-Rechlewicz, V., 2015. Migracje w Europie ? szanse i zagrożenia, in: T.Z. Leszczyński (ed.), Bezpieczeństwo Europy. Uwarunkowania społeczne, Polish Geopolitical Society, Kraków, pp. 55-74.
- Book: Soroka, P., 2015. Bezpieczeństwo energetyczne. Między teorią a praktyką, Dom Wydawniczy Elipsa, Warsaw.

- Web page: Open Street Map, www.streetmap.pl/#50.08417,19.8491,21z (accessed: 6th Feb. 2026).
If the cited source does not include the name of the author or editor, the title should be given first in the bibliographic entry. Works by the same author should be listed in chronological order. Publications by the same author from the same year should be additionally marked with letters (e.g., 2011a, 2011b).
- Bibliographic entries written in Cyrillic should be provided in the original language only. Authors are requested not to prepare their own transcriptions or transliterations.
- In the case of repeated bibliographic references, commonly used Latin abbreviations should be used: idem, ibidem, op. cit., passim.
At the end of the text, authors should include a summary and keywords in English, as well as a short biographical note about themselves.
